In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to apply Fractured Glitch transitions in Adobe Premiere Pro, using blending modes and the Track Matte Key effect, to seamlessly transition between two clips.
Step 1: Set Up Your Footage
Place your footage in the timeline:
- Put Footage A on Track V3 (or whichever track is suitable for your edit).
Step 2: Add the Fractured Glitch Transitions
Drag and drop the Fractured Glitch Transition A and B onto the timeline:
- Place Transition A on Track V5.
- Place Transition B on Track V4.
Step 3: Apply Transition to Footage A
- Cut Footage A at the point where you want the transition to begin.
- Choose Razor Tool to make the cut (or press C).
- On the second part of Footage A (after the cut), set the Blend Mode to Lighten.
Step 4: Use Track Matte Key Effect
- Search for the Track Matte Key effect in the Effects panel.
- Apply the Track Matte Key effect to the second part of Footage A.
- In the Effect Controls, set the Matte to Video Track V4 (the track where Transition B is placed).
Step 5: Duplicate Transition B for Footage B
- Duplicate Transition B (on Track V4) and place the copy under Footage A.
- To duplicate, hold down the Alt key (or Option key on Mac), then drag and drop the clip
- Add Footage B below everything on the timeline (for example, on Track V1).
And that’s it! You’ve successfully applied the transition using the Fractured Glitch pack in Premiere Pro. Try experimenting with different transitions to match your style!
If you want an even easier way to apply transitions, you can also use MOGRT files to streamline the process—check out this guide on how to use MOGRT files in Premiere Pro.
